COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This new course is for the more experienced watercolour painters, who wish to explore new creative challenges and broaden their repertoire and hone their skills. There will be opportunities to combine watercolour with other media and explore and experiment with traditional and contemporary approaches so that you can develop and expand your skills in watercolour painting The class will look at different themes and approaches each week instructed by the tutor. The tutor will provide support and guidance in a welcoming and relaxed environment setting an appropriate level of exploration for the more experienced watercolour painter. Sometimes we are introduced to other artists style, new techniques and how to approach particular surfaces and combine other media. e.g. ink, watercolour pencils or unusual paint colours. Without the impetus of the course I would rarely start or finish paintings." Janice Hale ABOUT TUTOR: Julia Roach has a degree in Painting from Canterbury College of Art and then went onto gain a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Newcastle-Upon Tyne. Julia has over 35 years of experience of teaching Painting and Drawing too both to adults and children. In her own practice drawing is an intrinsic part of her creative process, and she enjoys using a variety of mediums in her artwork, her work has been described as both illustrative and playful. WHAT'S PROVIDED: - Studio easels and drawing boards are available to use during the sessions if you wish, - some watercolour paper, - some mediums, - some still life and imagery will be provided but partcipants will bring imagery/ object to create their compositions and paintings - occasional information on artists and approaches will be emailed. WHAT TO BRING? - Watercolour paints/ brushes - Watercolour pads A4/A3 - at least 300gms - at least two water containers - a paint palette - pencil - rubbers - sharpener You will be asked to bring still objects/ still life to personalize your composition. LOCATION: Studio15 is situated on the ground floor of Westbury Arts Centre. Accessible parking spaces are available to anyone who requires them. We are happy to offer assistance to visitors wherever possible, upon prior arrangements.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR BOOKING WORKSHOPS AND COURSES Payment for classes and workshops You must pay in full for your workshop or course in advance of attending your first class. Withdrawals, transfers and cancellations If you need to withdraw from a course and inform us in writing at least 14 working days before the course is due to start, you will be eligible for a refund of your fees minus £5.00 to cover administration costs. If you withdraw from a course at any other time, you will not be eligible for a refund. However, in exceptional circumstances and at our discretion we may make refunds of some or all of the fees, and will deduct a £5.00 fee for administration. Bookings can be transferred to another course at no additional charge (apart from the difference in course fees) if you inform us at least 14 working days in writing. We will refund your fee in full in the unlikely event that we cancel a course or workshop, for example, due to lack of numbers, tutor ill-health, or other unforeseen circumstances. Class materials Your course/workshop confirmation email will advise you on what materials you need to bring to the class. Unless stated on the workshop details information on our website lunch is NOT provided but free tea and coffee are available. Photography/video By taking part in a WAC course/workshop or event you give full rights to use any images resulting from photography/ filming during the event. Personal data According to the Data Protection Act 2018 we are required to advise you of the uses we will make of the personal data you provide when making a class booking. These are: • To manage your booking, record your attendance, • To contact you in advance of the class to confirm your booking, to remind you of your booking and to advise of any materials you should bring • To contact you in case of changes to the time, date, venue or content • To survey you from time to time on behalf of WAC to gain feedback on your experience and satisfaction with WAC. • To email you our online newsletter l so that you can keep in touch about other WAC courses/workshops events and news.
