COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Discover the possibilities of mixed media in this one‑day workshop led by artist Jay Nolan‑Latchford. Designed for beginners as well as those with some creative experience, the session offers a clear, structured introduction to working with a range of materials. Throughout the day, you’ll explore how to build depth and interest using watercolour, gouache, inks, pens, and metallic powders. Jay will guide you through each stage, from initial layers to final details, helping you understand how these mediums interact and how to use them with confidence. You'll create a colourful vibrant summer themed piece with bright semi abstract florals and a contrasting blackbird. This workshop provides a relaxed, supportive environment to learn new techniques, develop your skills, and enjoy a focused day of creativity. MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR THE DURATION OF EACH SESSION: Brushes and palettes A3 Watercolour Paper Metalic powder WHAT MATERIALS TO BRING WITH YOU: Watercolour, gouache, inks, pastels, colour pencils and pens (fine liners, brush pens, markers, poscas, gel pens, felt pens even highlighters - lets get experimental!) Pad or sheets of watercolour paper (250gsm or more) for practicing techniques ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Complimentary teas &coffees on site. Please bring lunch and snacks with you. This workshop is scheduled to take place from 11am to 4.30pm, which includes 30 minutes break for lunch. LOCATION: This workshop will take place in the Drawing Room situated on the ground floor with accessible access. TUTOR INFORMATION: Jay Nolan‑Latchford studied illustration before completing a Graphic Design and Printmaking degree in Brighton. After working as a freelance designer in London, she founded her own design company in Buckinghamshire, collaborating with clients including Harrods, John Lewis, and Fortnum & Mason. She later returned to painting and illustration, creating vibrant watercolour, ink, and mixed media work, along with a growing range of prints and greetings cards. Jay is a qualified tutor and teaches regular workshops across Bucks, Beds, and Northants, known for supporting both beginners and more experienced artists. Her work is exhibited in several galleries and shown at art events across the South of England. She lives and works from her houseboat on the Grand Union and is passionate about creativity for well‑being. Jay also serves on the committee for the Visual Images Group.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR BOOKING WORKSHOPS AND COURSES Payment for classes and workshops You must pay in full for your workshop or course in advance of attending your first class. Withdrawals, transfers and cancellations If you need to withdraw from a course and inform us in writing at least 14 working days before the course is due to start, you will be eligible for a refund of your fees minus £5.00 to cover administration costs. If you withdraw from a course at any other time, you will not be eligible for a refund. However, in exceptional circumstances and at our discretion we may make refunds of some or all of the fees, and will deduct a £5.00 fee for administration. Bookings can be transferred to another course at no additional charge (apart from the difference in course fees) if you inform us at least 14 working days in writing. We will refund your fee in full in the unlikely event that we cancel a course or workshop, for example, due to lack of numbers, tutor ill-health, or other unforeseen circumstances. Class materials Your course/workshop confirmation email will advise you on what materials you need to bring to the class. Unless stated on the workshop details information on our website lunch is NOT provided but free tea and coffee are available. Photography/video By taking part in a WAC course/workshop or event you give full rights to use any images resulting from photography/ filming during the event. Personal data According to the Data Protection Act 2018 we are required to advise you of the uses we will make of the personal data you provide when making a class booking. These are: • To manage your booking, record your attendance, • To contact you in advance of the class to confirm your booking, to remind you of your booking and to advise of any materials you should bring • To contact you in case of changes to the time, date, venue or content • To survey you from time to time on behalf of WAC to gain feedback on your experience and satisfaction with WAC. • To email you our online newsletter l so that you can keep in touch about other WAC courses/workshops events and news.
