COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Advancing in Drawing (One Day) Saturday 11 July 10am - 4pm Suitable for those with some prior experience as well as those looking to brush up on existing skills with a group size no bigger than 8 people. This one-day course offers time to practise and consolidate the skills introduced in Introduction to Drawing, and is equally suitable for those looking to brush up on their skills or who haven’t previously attended an introductory drawing course. The focus is on giving you the space to spend time developing a drawing using techniques you have recently learned or are exploring for the first time, working at your own pace and in a way that suits your individual needs. You will have the opportunity to draw from a still life set-up or develop a more individual project, with guidance and tuition from the tutor throughout the day. The course is open to anyone with some drawing experience, and is ideal if you would like to build confidence, deepen your understanding, and prepare for or support your progress in Advancing in Drawing. WHAT'S PROVIDED: - Studio easels and drawing boards are available to use during the sessions if you wish, - some basic drawing materials - pencils ( HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B) - rubber - sharpener - A4 - A3 drawing paper LOCATION: The Legge Room is situated on the ground floor of Westbury Arts Centre. Accessible parking spaces are available to anyone who requires them. We are happy to offer assistance to visitors wherever possible, upon prior arrangements. ABOUT TUTOR: Sarah Watts is a Milton Keynes based artist and postgraduate researcher whose material led practice explores the relationship between art, health, and lived experience. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she specialises in drawing and supports learners of all abilities to build confidence through creative practice. Sarah also delivers Arts on Prescription courses for Arts for Health MK and is currently working as an Artist in Residence with Woughton Community Council, as well as serving as an Associate Artist with MK Gallery.
