COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This workshop is an opportunity to spend a day painting in a relaxed and supportive environment, whether you are completely new to acrylics, have attended a previous acrylics course, or simply want dedicated time to develop your own work. You can choose to start a new painting or continue with an existing project, working at your own pace with guidance available throughout the day. Bring along photographs, sketches, objects, or other source material that inspires you, or create a simple still life to work from during the session. Support and demonstrations can be tailored to your interests and experience, covering areas such as colour mixing, tone, layering, glazing, texture, composition and brushwork. The emphasis is on giving yourself the time and space to explore ideas, develop confidence, solve painting problems and make real progress with your work. WHAT TO BRING: Students are encouraged to bring their own paints, brushes, reference materials, photographs, sketches, or objects that inspire them. ABOUT THE TUTOR: Sarah Watts is a Milton Keynes based artist and postgraduate researcher whose material led practice explores the relationship between art, health, and lived experience. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she specialises in drawing and supports learners of all abilities to build confidence through creative practice. Sarah also delivers Arts on Prescription courses for Arts for Health MK and is currently working as an Artist in Residence with Woughton Community Council, as well as serving as an Associate Artist with MK Gallery.
