COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Coil Pot Building Workshop with Ceramicist Andrew Macdermott Suitable for ages 11+ (children will need a paid ticket and must be accompanied by a paying adult) Discover the joy of hand-building with clay in this creative, hands-on workshop led by popular ceramicist Andrew Macdermott. Whether you're completely new to pottery or already dabbling in clay, this session introduces you to the timeless technique of coil pot building using stoneware clay. You’ll learn how simple coiling methods can be transformed into both small decorative pieces and impressive large-scale forms, opening the door to an exciting range of pots and sculptural creations. What’s Included All clay, tools, and materials Step-by-step guidance from an experienced ceramic artist Your handmade pot to take home and finish What to Expect Clay can get messy, so we recommend bringing an apron or an old shirt. At the end of the session, you’ll take your pot home to air dry in a warm spot. Once fully dry, simply coat it with a mixture of PVA glue and acrylic paint to add colour and help preserve your creation. Andrew will also be offering extended courses in ceramic sculpture and pottery for young people and adults later in the year. Join our newsletter to be the first to hear when bookings open.
