Mary was born in Deryshire, grew up in Cardiff and studied painting at the West of England College of Art then postgraduate printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Since then she has worked as a teacher,  parent and registered art therapist, always keeping up with drawing and painting. Mary first came to Westbury in 1997 and is still here, finding the environment conducive to reflection and if  fortunate, to creativity also. Mary works in oil, charcoal and pastel in a traditional but not academic mode where perception, memory and imagination work together.
