About the Event
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
This will be a relaxing and creative day. You will learn a lot about wool, and use a range of techniques from the ancient art of wet felt making to create a unique picture of your choice. These skills of making good quality felt using wool fibres and embellishing it with silk and different plant fibres can be
used in other projects. Hand crafted wool felt makes an excellent base for embroidery. You will learn how to display your picture, and about a variety of projects made from flat felt.
Suitable for complete beginners and experienced felt makers.
ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Hilly is a very experienced wet felt maker, workshop leader and an active member of the International Feltmakers Association. Felt making appeals to her because wool is an amazing natural fibre and the range of possibilities to create different kinds of felt using wool is enormous. She makes all sorts of things from delicate, silky scarves, handbags, puppets to strong, cosy slippers.
Included in the price is a wide choice of colours of wool and embellishment fibres that you can use for your project, as well as the use of felt making kit. Help yourself to tea or coffee and biscuits throughout the day.
