About the Event
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Junior Herbalist Club is a nationally recognised programme supported by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, introducing children to the world of medicinal plants through hands-on practical learning. Each month children explore a different plant - its history, folklore, identification and traditional uses - before making something to take home. Over the year they make things like lavender bags, elderflower cordial, bath bombs, lip balms, infused oils, throat lozenges and elderberry syrup. The course weaves together biology, chemistry, botany, Latin and cookery, building real scientific understanding through practical activity.
Children develop confidence in plant identification, fine motor skills, and an appreciation for nature and sustainability. Every session includes a worksheet that builds into a personal portfolio over the year. Children who attend at least 8 out of 10 sessions graduate with a nationally recognised certificate and badge.
