About the Event
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The course will cover how to use a compass and ruler to draw a geometric template, how to trace and transfer this to watercolour paper to create your own composition, and then to use watercolour paints to create a painting.
This course is suitable for beginners who would like to learn how to draw Islamic geometric patterns, the process of drawing with a compass, and those who want to learn watercolour painting techniques
ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Safira Ali is a visual artist and calligrapher based in the East Midlands. Her work explores geometry, Islamic illumination, modern and Arabic calligraphy. She has studied Islamic geometry with the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, Art of Islamic Pattern and traditional arts with the VMCTA. For the past three years she has been undertaking a traditional apprenticeship programme to learn tezhip with an Islamic illumination master in Istanbul.
