About the Event

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

This 3 week course is suitable for Crochet Refreshers.

Maybe you've attended one of my Level 0 Workshops already and would like to refresh and build on the skills you have already learnt, or maybe you've learnt to crochet in the past and need to brush up and extend your crochet knowledge. This is the perfect mini crochet course - whatever direction you'd like to take your hobby

In Session ONE you will refresh and build on the basic crochet skills, including: how to hold the yarn and hook; chain, double crochet, treble crochet, turn, edge; slip stitch, half treble crochet and double treble crochet; how to follow a simple crochet pattern.

In Session TWO you will tackle a new project - it's a cute basket bag! This project will teach you: how to use a new yarn type and corresponding hook size; how to make a magic loop; how to crochet continuously in the round; how to use a stitch marker (and stitch marker options); new stitches, including crocheting in the back loop; how to finish your work neatly; how to make rope handles with recycled T-shirt yarn.

In Session THREE you will learn to make an amigurumi! This project will teach you: amigurumi stitch techniques (no holes showing!); recap on making a magic loop and crocheting continuously in the round; how to follow an amigurumi pattern; when and how to stuff your amigurumi; how to keep your tension consistent; how to add features; how to finish your project neatly and securely.

ABOUT THE TUTOR:

Nicky Ward is the owner & founder of A heart shaped cherry - a contemporary crochet brand using recycled yarns to design patterns & kits, and to hand make gifts, homewares & accessories. Nicky recently featured in Simply Crochet magazine and am also an Ambassador for Craftember (an initiative to get people crafting to improve mental health). Nicky has a background in graphic design and have always been compelled to craft;  taught to crochet (& knit) by her grandmother when she was young, and found a new purpose for her hobby when she discovered recycled yarns, in particular T-shirt yarn - Nicky started by making her own.

Nicky regularly teaches crochet workshops and lessons across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire & Northamptonshire.
