About the Event
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Students will use wet into wet and wet into dry techniques, limiting the layers and using lively direct brushwork to keep watercolour fresh and signing from the page. Gain a better understanding of colour mixing and using a limited palette to avoid dull muddied colours, learn how to mix and use various shades of greens and different tones, strengths and consistencies of colour to bring lightness, harmony and a sense of space and distance to your artworks.
Through demos and one to one guidance and support Nicky will show the stages of a painting using traditional watercolour techniques in a contemporary way to create fresh artworks and helps you to do the same whilst progressing your painting skills.
You can transfer the tips and knowledge Nicky offers to many other subject matters in watercolour and other mediums particularly what you learn about tone, colour, composition and creating artworks that sing from the page.
This workshop is not appropriate for absolute beginners. Please see other options Westbury Art Centre has to offer if you have no painting experience and wish to try something for beginners before progressing to mixed level workshops with Nicky.
