Calligraphy & Flourishing course - Su N
Calligraphy & Flourishing course - Su N
Calligraphy, Flourishing, Illustration and Illumination
COURSE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
WHO IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR? The course is suitable for students who are interested in learning pointed pen calligraphy and flourishing. All levels of experience are welcome: you can be a complete beginner or an experienced calligrapher who would like to refresh their skills. ABOUT THE COURSE: For those unfamiliar with pointed pen calligraphy, the first five weeks would be focused on familiarising ourselves with the pen and nib, learning lower and upper case copperplate script from worksheets provided, and introducing some flourishing. Students who were already familiar with the beginners course would start on developing flourishing skills and creating various projects. These skills and techniques can be used over and over again to produce beautiful pieces of work - illustrating poems, creating unique and lovely card designs, wedding stationery, adding a flourish to envelopes and much more. ABOUT THE TUTOR: Christina is a graduate of Balliol College, Oxford University and was a Course Tutor and Manager in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Open University for many years. Her passion for calligraphy and illumination led her to study at Reigate College of Art, The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts and with a Master Penman in the US. Christina was Chairman of the South London Lettering Association and her extensive portfolio covers many years of experience with private and corporate clients such as John Lewis, Sheaffer Pens, Molton Brown, Fenwick’s and many others. Christina has run classes in Pointed Pen Calligraphy, Flourishing, Illumination and Illustration as an Artist Associate at Milton Keynes Arts Centre. Her work can be viewed on her Instagram page @littlesapphire1 or her website www.dream-writer.com.
